Doggies Dyed to Look Like Other Species…Interesting

Good afternoon!!! *spins*

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a Tiger, or a Panda?  Do you find yourselves wondering how different your life would be?

Now, imagine you are trotting down the street, say Santana Row, smelling and sniffing your way down the boulevard, when all of the sudden you look up and…BAM!!!  You see a tiger walking your way, not just walking, but running in your direction!  You start trembling and don’t know if you should run or play dead.  Then, out of now where, the tiger starts barking at you and looking like he wants to play.  It is then that you realize this is not a tiger after all…it is a dog dyed to look like a tiger! *spins*

I know what you are thinking – this sounds like a bad dream, but thanks to some amazing dye jobs there are pooches out in the world who have the unique opportunity of looking like other species. Apparently, these days it is “in” to try and change your best friend’s appearance by dying them to look like other animals.  This trend is most prominent in China where you can actually see dogs who not only resemble Pandas, but could potentially be mistaken for one.  And there are doggies that look like Tigers too!

Take a look at the below photos if you don’t believe me! *spins*

Raise your paw if you’d like such a make over!!!…no?  Didn’t think so.

Some Dogs Have All the Luck

Good morning to all!! *spins*

I am enjoying my morning treat with a fresh bowl of water and lounging on my luxurious Paul Frank bed. As I am reading the morning news, and People Pets has the most important daily news, I have come upon an amazing article regarding Carrie Underwood’s adorable rat terrier, Ace.

Apparently, the lucky pooch was given the honor of being one of the ring bearers at his Mrs. Underwood’s wedding. What a lucky terrier!! *spins*
It has been reported that Ace was dressed in a custom, powder-pink tuxedo and wearing custom white gold and diamond “A” designed by jeweler Jonathon Arndt. In addition, he wore sparkle-encrusted bow tie, also pink.

As far as his performance this is what the groom had to say about Ace: “He needed a little bit of coaxing along the way, but he did great. It was cute — it was a cool moment. Everybody really loved it.”

All I have to say is that Ace is one lucky son of a terrier!

Learning How to Swim!!!

Category Amazing!, Ponderings

It is another wonderful summer day and I am excited about my swimming lesson today! *spins*

In order to even start thinking about getting into such a scary unknown place as the “pool”, I first thought it essential to have a little chat with my vet. Safety first!
Things you might consider asking your vet are any questions relating to the following: obesity, heart and lung problems, short snouts, flat faces, age and heavy coats of fur.
Fortunately, my health is superb and I was given the green light to head to the pool…
“spins”

So here I was with the afternoon sun blazing directly on my white fluffy tail staring down at the deep clear water, or otherwise known as “the challenge.”
First, I checked my arm floaters by tightening them one last time. Second, I dipped the tip of my left back paw into the water very fast. It felt cold and wet!! But, now that I had taken care of the scary part, I felt more confident. I looked back at my mommy to make sure she had noticed my progress and was excited to see she was watching me from a close distance with an encouraging smile on her face. I spun a couple of times to show her my excitement and I jumped into the water!!! I felt excitement, shortness of breath, which was the result of the contact with the cold water, and strong sense of empowerment! *spins*

Today, I learned a new activity and I urge all of you to go out and take a little dip in the pool this summer!

Heya-Touleh here! *spins, spins, spins* Today has been such a busy day! The Innova lady came to our store and was giving out coupons and free samples of Innova! You know I realized today that a lot of dogs don’t actually use computers, in fact most of my furry pals don’t. I began to wonder why, surely there must be a reason. I had a sniff on the net and came across the top 20 reasons why dogs don’t use computers! Here goes:

16. Can’t help attacking the screen when they hear “You’ve Got Mail.”

15. Fire hydrant icon simply frustrating.

14. Involuntary tail wagging is dead giveaway they’re browsing www.pethouse.com instead of working.

13. Keep bruising noses trying to catch that JPEG frisbee.

12. Not at all fooled by Dogmore Screen Saver.

11. Still trying to come up with an “emoticon” that signifies tail-wagging.

10. Oh, but they WILL… with the introduction of the Microsoft OpposableThumb.

Happy National Dog Day!!!

Heya-Touleh here! *spins, spins, spins* I had a sniff on the net and my oh my, how could i forget???!!! Yesterday was a really, really, really important day for us, doggies, everywhere.  It was National Dog Day, started by Animal Miracle Network. It celebrates dogs of all breeds.  Most importantly, it is aimed at raising awareness of all the dogs that need to be rescued from: shelters, bad owners, puppy mills.

Animal Miracle Network made the following statement:

“While we feel that Americans have the constitutional right to purchase a pure breed dog, we strongly discourage buying from pet stores, backyard breeders, the internet, newspaper ads and puppy mills, and rather encourage those seeking new canine companions, to verify that they are buying from a reputable breeder, educate themselves about their dog’s breed and better yet – visit their local shelter or pure breed rescue group for a new furry family member that will be forever grateful.”

If you purchase/adopt from a rescue society or a local shelter you are saving a pet’s life. These days there are so many homeless dogs, its very sad. You can help, adopt today! *wag*

Colleen Paige, founder of National Dog Day and a pet lifestyle expert, says, “It is the human condition to love. It is Love that changes the human condition. It is the love of one human that can change a nation. It is that love which empowers one nation to save man’s best friend.” *spins, spins, spins*

What an inspiring statement and amazing cause!!! *bark* I’m so proud to be a dog and all of you canines should be too!

Happy National Dog Day everyone!!!  It is your day to shine!

Heya-Touleh here! *spins, spins, spins* It’s another hot and muggy day today and I am so not liking it. I’m drinking lots of water as I should be and I’ve decided to stay inside. Inside with the air conditioning blasting is pure heaven!! *repeated panting* I found a really good chew toy from West Paw around the house. Its keeping me entertained for the time being. I’ve also decided to have a sniff on the net for another yummy recipe, I do love cooking!! *licks lips* Here you go:

Snickerpoodles

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup honey
2 eggs
3 ¾ cups white flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ cup cornmeal
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Mix vegetable oil, shortening , honey with eggs. Beat well. Add flour, soda and cream of tartar. Knead dough until mixed well. Shape dough by rounded teaspoons into balls. Mix the cornmeal and cinnamon together in a bowl and roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet . Press the balls down with a fork. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 400F. Cool on a rack. Store in airtight container.

Hope you all enjoy these treats as much as I have. They’re even named after me! I’ve even used poodle cookie cutters to cut them out! *bark* Anyway I think I’m going to go for a nap and hopefully when I wake up it will be a lot cooler, then I can go for a walk outside! *wag* Touleh signing off! *bark*

A cute and funny doggie story!!!

Heya-Touleh here! *spins, spins, spins* It’s been a really hot day today, 95 degrees Farenheit to be exact! I heard from mommy that we gave everyone who shopped at my store today a 15% discount on anything they bought! So for everyone who came out despite the heat, you got a treat!! I haven’t been out much today either. The heat just drains all my energy. *sigh* Anyway since I was quite bored at home I decided to see if there was anything interesting to read on the net. So I had a sniff around and almost drooled all over mommy’s couch from laughter when I found this hilarious story! *bark* Here you go:

There is not a Secret Exit from the bathroom; Author: RosieNTucker

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open.

I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years — canine or feline attendance is not required.

Rosie is the worst! She will try and squeeze herself through the crack under the door, then when she gives up with that, she will scratch like crazy, it actually sounds like someone pounding on the door.
Silly me thought that now that all my kids were older and they finally gave up on following me to the bathroom, I would have some peace!

O my, I’ve been rolling all over the carpet from laughter. I definitely don’t intrude on mommy when she needs alone time! *bark* Well ok, I take that back, I do only if I really miss her, because mommy is the best! *wag* Anyway this super hot weather has tired me out, so I think I’m going to call it an early night. Breed of the Week: the Pug!!!

Posted 21 Aug 2010 — by touleh
Category Ponderings

Heya-Touleh here! *spins, spins, spins* It’s the weekend finally, yay! I’ve been relaxing all day. I even managed to have a sniff at the net for a bit. The Pug is the breed of the week this time! I simply can’t resist their big, round eyes and their cute muzzle!! I would quite like to play with one sometime! *bark*

The phrase “multum in parvo” describes the Pug best. It means “a lot of dog in a small space.” Pugs have even-tempers, playful and outgoing personalities and loving dispositions. They come in fawn, silver fawn, apricot fawn or black, with a well-defined “mask” on his muzzle. The pug is a very popular companion dog and does well in the show ring.

A Look Back…

The Pug is a very old breed of dog dating from before 400 BC. The Pug is thought to have originated from Asia because it has similarities to the Pekingese. China is the first known source for Pugs, where they were pets of the Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. The breed then appeared in Japan and Europe. When Prince William II became King of England the Pug became popular. Prince William II owned Pugs and they became the fashionable breed for generations.

Right Breed For You?

The Pug’s reason for living is to be near their people and to please them. Their sturdiness makes them a family favorite. They do fine in small apartments because they only need minimal exercise. The breed can adapt easily to all situations. The Pug does shed, but its short coat needs little grooming. The Pug weighs between 14-18 pounds.

Pugs sound so nice and sweet! I hope I’ll meet one very soon! Their a bit bigger than me but not by much, so that’s definitely a bonus!*wag* Anyway today seems like its going to be such a beautiful day. I’m going for a walk. Touleh signing off! *bark*
